I am Emma Helleren Campbell, situated in Oslo, Norway. I have a Bachelor degree in fashion and costume design from Oslo National Academy of the Arts and a master degree in Cultural Studies from the University of South Eastern Norway. I work as head of costume at Scenekvelder, the biggest musical theatre production company in Norway.
I’ve always been interested in characters and the developing and understanding of them. In the more recent years, I’ve moved from working with characters thought costume design, to also work more academically with understanding how we wish to be perceived, why we wish to be perceived this way, and how we present ourselves to achieve that.
Throughout my work I reflect upon the prospects of our society and how we as a community function together. I’m highly interested in politics and authenticity in an digital era, and how one can use the theatrical metaphors to describe the political landscape.
